Accompanist Job Summary
Alegría Women’s Chorus of San Antonio seeks an experienced pianist to serve as accompanist for weekly rehearsals and performances during the 2025–2026 season. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong collaborative skills and be comfortable working under the direction of the Artistic Director to support the ensemble’s musical goals. Rehearsals are held weekly on Sundays from 4:00–6:30 p.m., with required attendance at all scheduled performances.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the accompanist include:

Prepare all repertoire in advance of rehearsals and performances

Attend and accompany weekly rehearsals (Sundays, 4:00–6:30 p.m.)

Accompany ensemble at all concerts and scheduled performances
-
Play vocal lines or individual parts during rehearsals as needed

Follow the Artistic Director’s lead with attentiveness and musical sensitivity
Qualifications
Required experience and skills include:
-
Demonstrated experience as a choral accompanist in both rehearsal and performance settings

Proficient sight-reading and strong collaborative playing ability
-
Able to utilize "open score"

Ability to follow and anticipate conductor cues

Positive, professional demeanor and excellent communication skills
